Maureen has always had an interest in art and decor and was previously a professional graphic artist. More recently she worked as sales staff and store decorator  at a home decor store where she helped clients choose furniture, lighting, artwork and accessories. She graduated from the Residential Decor program at Algonquin College with Honours. MODECOR was launched so that Maureen could use her interest, talent and skills in order to help clients with their decor issues.  Maureen has been involved in construction, reconstruction, renovation, design and decor. She has worked closely with several trades, suppliers and workrooms to everyone’s complete satisfaction.

“Maureen was very confident when it came to making decisions about the renovation.  She kept the communication lines open with me and my trades and was readily available by phone or in person. Maureen was very receptive to suggestions made by myself and the trades, making decisions quickly allowing the process for all concerned to proceed quickly.  The renovation kept to its timeline due to the fact that Maureen was so organized.”

“Maureen was wonderful to work with.  With the guidelines we gave her, she came back with fabulous choices.  Her fabric choices were bang on.  We would definately ask for Maureen’s help in the future.  She was very thorough.”

“We knew we wanted great window seats for our new home...but to find the time and effort to make it happen?  We ran out of steam.  Maureen and MODECOR came to the rescue. She instinctively knew what we had in mind and made it happen...with humour, creativity and an unparalleled level of organization and practicality.  She knew what would work and the result is amazing spaces we are proud to feature in our new home.”

Although all decorating issues are treated at MODECOR with the same quality of professionalism, Maureen has a keen interest in ”small spaces” solutions and downsizing.  Speaking from personal experience she is aware of the complexities of downsizing, beginning with the sorting and discarding of personal belongings which she describes as “actually cathartic”.  Once that task is complete there is often a need to strategize new organizational and storage solutions to enhance the space.  Then the decorating begins.
